Our Mission:
Someone once asked me, "Why bother getting into the 'writing advice' business? Aren't there already enough unemployed writers out there hanging their shingles trying to make ends meet?" It's true, there are many companies "out there" who provide services to writers. Throw a stone—you'll hit one. And yes, over the last several years there have been many writers, story editors, and "development people" who have gone out on their own, as they were laid off from struggling production companies or agencies. But, while so many others may be "consulting" until they can find a real job writing, Storygeeks has a job. We are all working writers in the film, publishing, or new media arenas. We are published authors, employed developmental editors, working story editors, produced screenwriters, or all of the above. We choose to also work with Storygeeks because the world of writing has become so exciting and the landscape for film, television, and book publishing has exploded so loudly with possibilities that to not share our expertise and experience with new and experienced storytellers would be a crime.
Storygeeks is about: sharing knowledge, lifting craft as high as it will go, pushing the boundaries of writing platforms, arming storytellers with new tools and ideas, and having gobs of fun in the process. When this stops being fun we close the doors.
